HOMEGROWN

Slow Food, Right Quick.

A local eatery serving local food, cooked by local people — at prices regular folks can actually afford.

Open Thu–Mon · 11 AM–7 PM · Closed Tue & Wed

Locally sourced. Honest prices. Certified green. Zero landfill. Since 2010. Asheville, NC.

Good Food for
Regular Folks

Good food shouldn't be reserved for the fabulously wealthy. Since 2010 we've bought what local farms actually grow — including the 'ugly veggies' the fancy-schmancy places pass on — and turned it into soup, sauces and suppers Asheville can afford.

From Local Farms

Farmers swing by after market and trade us what's left — sometimes for a chicken sa'mich.

Priced for Neighbors

Full plates, honest prices. Most plates land between $10 and $18.

Nothing to Landfill

A certified green restaurant: we compost just about everything, pre- and post-consumer.

The Fried
Chicken Biscuit

Buttermilk fried chicken on a cheddar biscuit — get it smothered in sausage gravy, with a side of sesame greens. It's the Open Faced Fried Chicken Biscuit on the menu, and yes, there's usually a line. It moves fast.

OUR STORY

Opened in 2010
on a Shoestring
Budget and a Prayer

No advertising, not even a sign — but people found us. Farmers started trickling in with local goodies, sometimes trading what was left after market for a chicken sa'mich. A few months and an actual sign later, it was working. Really, really working.

We set out to prove local food could be for everybody. When a farmer grows it, we buy it — in season and in abundance — and our menu follows the fields, not a freezer truck.

We measure success by what we give back: over $100K donated to local non-profits so far, solar panels heating our water, and a kitchen where there isn't a single thing we serve that's landfill waste.

Don't be discouraged by the long line. It goes quickly, and their fresh food is worth it. It's laid back and delicious.

Maybe the best fried chicken we have had as a family! Crispy and flavorful!

Can't beat the price for the quality and quantity. By far one of best local food restaurants going!
